The Beginning

It started with proteas.

Like a lot of florist stories, this one starts with someone making bouquets for friends and family before they realised they had a business.

What began on a kitchen table in Walvis Bay โ€” proteas from a friend's farm, lilies from a wholesaler in Cape Town, a kind of careful, intentional way of building arrangements that felt like still-life paintings โ€” slowly became a small shopfront. Then a studio. Then a team.

Today, Flower Garden serves the entire coast: Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay, and inland on request. We do everything from a single-stem apology to a fifty-table wedding. But our point of view hasn't changed.

We don't make bouquets in bulk. We make them in earnest.

The Studio

Dark walls, warm light.

The studio is small on purpose. Deep navy walls so the flowers pop. Edison bulbs because they make every petal look better. A long wooden workbench where everything is built by hand.

You're welcome to come in and watch us work. Most of our regulars do โ€” they pop in, look at the cooler, change their mind three times, and leave with something better than they originally pictured.

That's the difference between us and an online flower app. You can talk to the florist. And we'll listen.

What We Believe

Three rules that we won't break.

โ€” 01 โ€”

Freshness is non-negotiable

If a stem is past its best, it doesn't go in a bouquet. Full stop. We'd rather make a smaller arrangement than a tired one.

โ€” 02 โ€”

The recipient comes first

We design for the person receiving the flowers, not the trend on Instagram. If you tell us they hate baby's breath, we won't sneak it in for filler.

โ€” 03 โ€”

Honest pricing, always

We tell you what the stems cost, what the labour costs, and what the delivery costs. No mystery markup. No surprise charges.

We're not in the business of selling flowers. We're in the business of making someone feel something when they open the door.

Our Community

A studio of the coast.

Walvis Bay isn't a big city, and that's a feature, not a bug. We know the schools, the restaurants, the lodges, the funeral parlours, and most of our customers by name.

We're proud to be the florist behind a lot of the coast's quiet moments โ€” the bouquet that arrives on a difficult Tuesday, the wedding flowers that made a bride cry happily, the wreath that said what the family couldn't.

We try to be worthy of that trust every single day.
